Aug 14, 2018 · So I did what any sane person would do, and I wiped the entire machine and reinstalled Windows 10 Pro. I ran all the updates, and finally, it let me create the External Virtual Switch. Except now it tanks my Host's download speed to 1 mb/s on an 800 mb/s line. When I remove the virtual switch, my download speed is restored.

May 21, 2014 · The recommended procedure is to have the option unchecked and give the host machine its own NIC (ie one not linked to a virtual switch). The NIC linked to the virtual switch is then exclusively used by the vms.

Jan 08, 2015 · Correct. the vmxnet 3 adapter has a virtual connection to the virtual switch at 10Gbps. But if the physical link from the host to the physical network is through four 1 Gbps uplinks. However, that does not give you 4 Gbps of throughput, it gives you 4 1 Gbps throughputs. Think of it like a highway.
