Nov 27, 2012 · i took a internal hd who contain suse 12.1 and put it in a external case. when i click on it in kde, nothing happen, so i tried to mount it manually mount /dev/sdb2 /mnt/ NOTE: mount.crypt does not support utab (systems with no mtab or read-only mtab) yet. This means that you will temporarily need to call umount.crypt(8) rather than umount(8) to get crypto volumes unmounted.

Oct 02, 2013 · As the wiki does not say how to change the login file, and i do not use a login manager, i am a bit lost here. Also i do not know where to add the --allow-discards option. What i have done so far: * changed my users password to be identical to the luks passphrase * edited /etc/security pam_mount.conf.xml as by the wiki (* encrypted the partition)

Turns out there is no such syntax. So pam_mount was trying to mount the volume for user * and of course failed. This was reflected in the logs by the line crypt_activate_by_passphrase: Operation not permitted. Solved by replacing * with the name of my user. If needed man pam_mount.conf has further options for finer grained control.
