Actually, lots of programs use multiple cores. All Adobe programs like Photoshop will use 4 cores, and lots of video editing software takes advantage of 4 cores as well.

But then, I'm sure, more games and applications will completely support quad core CPUs. ... NO, currently only games support 2 cores, new games (expect at least a year) 2009 to be the start of the new quad core games. Basicly if you can buy a 3ghz or clock to 3ghz then do it, other wise the game will be 2.4 quad (using duel core) instead of say a 3.2 ghz (amd) which if you get now, the amd quads for next and this year will be cheap (make sure u get a board that can support).

Aug 18, 2009 · the second the dual core is 3.0GHz or so which as i understand is much faster than the quad core at 2.33GHz, i thought that the amount of core was mostly for running more than one application at a time and as i will be running nothing but games on it at one time so for only playing games wouldn't the 3.0GHz help or does the quad core just blow ...

Apr 24, 2009 · Most games benefit most from a high clock speed. But I want to know if the programmers of Diablo 3 are going to let people benefit with multicore processors. I ask this because the new lap top processors from intel (google: intel clarksfield) are going to be quad core, but their clock speeds are kind of low. Like 1.6, 1.73 and 2 ghz.

Aug 01, 2010 · Quad i5 goes up to 3.33GHz with Turbo. The CPU is not the bottleneck here, it's the GPU so there won't be huge difference between the games plus all upcoming games support quad core so future wise quad is better investment.
