Jan 16, 2014 · Yes your motherboard does support raid as stated in the specifications manual and yes, your chipset is z87. The Ctrl-I hotkey is used for Intel Rapid Storage Tech. Unless you have this enabled and raid configured, I do not believe this hotkey is enabled.

When it comes to software RAID and integrated RAID support on motherboards and I'll agree that if you're seriously considering RAID get the right stuff. When it comes to a small business, who isn't going to spend the extra bucks for all the fancy stuff, a simple RAID 1 solely for the purpose of having a mirror (due to failure) isn't a bad idea.

If you want to setup RAID even when your computer does not have RAID support in-built on the motherboard, you can purchase a PCI RAID card which will be an add-on hardware with RAID controller chipsets and will allow you to setup RAID. Jan 06, 2012 · My requirements in a Mobo are on board video and sound (keeping it simple from that perspective). I know that an external RAID controller would be best (was looking at the LSI line) but if I can get away with the mobo being able to do this for me I could save a good chunk of coin.

Oct 29, 2012 · However, unless the motherboard raid is a true raid, I'd avoid it like the plague. Using the disks in a pass-through mode should still be possible. And I'm not aware of any mobo maker who actually puts RAID on it. Maybe someone does, but it is safe to assume that any RAID on a mobo is fake RAID. Some PCIe cards are fake RAID too, though.
