Apr 29, 2009 · Best Answer: Your camera does not support SDHC memory. The cards look the same, but the electrical interface is different between SDHC and standard SD. Go back to the store, find the manager, and have him not only replace the cards you bought, but inform the clerk that he's an idiot.

OK, first, the 4gb SDHC card will not work in the Powershot A540. It was made before the file structure for SDHC cards became standard. The camera is limited to SD cards 2gb capacity or less.

Yes, sir. Re: Powershot a540 HELP. There is a possibility that the switch inside the card reader of the camera is stuck in the locked position. Use a flashlight to see if there is any dirt on the side of the card reader where the lock switch on the card is and if there is any dirt, you can use a toothpick to see if you can dislodge the dirt.

You can buy it from any online or local electronic store. It should not cost more than $7. But don't mistake it with SDHC card. Your camera is not compatible with SDHC card. SD card is limited at 2Gb; so the largest one you can get is 2Gb. Anything larger will be SDHC.
