Jan 29, 2012 · As far as I'm aware Audacity does not support APE files, so you will need to decode those first to WAV files. Regarding the WAV files, if they are playing super fast as you describe, then they are not normal WAV files. They may be WMA files or some other compressed format.

Jul 21, 2012 · I read that Audacity can support APE files but only if you have installed FFmpeg. This was on Windows though - anyone know if I can do this on Mac too? I took a look at the FFmpeg site but it seems there are just uncompiled files to download - I haven't a clue about how to get a version working for Mac if it will at all:
