Jun 25, 2008 · Hello, After installing and rebooting 2.6.25.5-1.1-xen kernel on OpenSuSE 11, starting XEN server through virt-manager I tried to create virtual machine and got following message: "The processor(s) in this machine do not support full virtualization" Machine is AMD Athlon 64-bit X2 and here is the content of /proc/cpuinfo: processor : 0

Nov 14, 2019 · The processor in my Surface Laptop (1st gen) is an i7-7660U. This processor supports Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x) and Intel VT-x with Extended Page Tables, see this Intel page about the processor. The Intel Virtualization technology is enabled via the BIOS and is off by default.

Ah, yes, you've discovered that not all Intel CPUs support virtualization. All of AMD's CPU's do, but not all of Intel's. Go figure. This Ed Bott article explains the problem and lists all the Intel processors that do and don't support Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT).
