The game has all the bindings wrong with the Xbox 360 Controller, it worked fine before. This is not a problem with the controller, it works fine in all the other games. After looking online seems the developers broke controller support during recent patches and never cared to fix them. Guess I'll never play this game ever again.

@STORMP00PER: When I bought SR3 back in December I was able to immediately play with a wired 360 controller. Recently I bought a wireless 360 controller and it works as well. When I run joy.cpl and activate my wireless controller, it appears in the listing.

If it's *not* an Xbox 360 controller, than you may just be out of luck. Some (Actually, a lot) of recent/modern games won't recognize any other controllers natively. Best option for those is to either get a different controller (Wired 360 pads are ~$30 or so), or use a program like Xpadder to map controller buttons to keyboard key presses.

I use a wired 360 knock-off controller by Razer and it works very well too. I have a wireless Xbox reciever for my PC, but it was always frustrating me because it has a tendency to disconnect randomly and need to be unplugged and plugged back in. I could probably get it replaced, but I just bought a wired controller instead and it works fine.
