Jan 15, 2019 · I believe they go below the bottom oil ring, to cover the part of the wrist pin hole that intersects the oil ring groove. They provide support for the oil ring at that point. There are locators on the rail that keep the open ends from wandering over to the wrist pin hole. I see no problem using them.

Jan 17, 2013 · The rails have dimples. My concern is not that the rail starts rotating, it is the bottom oil ring. When the gap of the oil ring crosses the 1.6 mm gap of the rail, the tip of the bottom oil ring is not supported for that distance.
