I have a current installation of Ubuntu 13. Will it boot if I switch my SATA controller to AHCI in BIOS? (I installed Ubuntu in IDE mode) I have to wait until I fix my GRUB (Windows ate it), so I thought I'd take a poll here first in case there are any precautions.

Jan 07, 2012 · I need to find out how to enable or install the SATA AHCI driver in Ubuntu 10.04 when I have the BIOS serial ATA setting to the IDE compatibility mode ? This is a multi-boot system from 2009 with a few versions of Windows installed, (all were installed when in the IDE emulation compatibility mode, and now changing it to AHCI mode in the BIOS).

I didn't find an answer while searching so I post here. I have a Dell XPS 9350 and I want to install Ubuntu in dual boot along Windows 10. I have a M.2 PCIe NVMe Samsung SSD and on Dell website it is written that I need to change the option "RAID On" to AHCI.
