Feb 01, 2015 · I was exporting 50 photos on my newly built Core I7-3770 machine, which is a CPU has 4 cores 8 threads. From the task manager, I noticed that only 50~60 percent of CPU was used. If exporting 1 photo only takes half of the CPU power, why not Lightroom process 2 or more photos at one time for those systems have extra power?

I personally found Core i5 CPUs to be quite adequate for most Lightroom features. Since Lightroom is generally not well optimized for multi-threading, you don’t have to worry about getting a high-end Intel Xeon CPU either.

Jun 08, 2015 · I'm not a LightRoom user, so I don't have any first hand experience, but there's always Google. Just looking at the topic of 'LightRoom MultiCore' brings up a lot of discussions with people claiming they aren't gaining a whole lot from anything more than quad cores with Lightroom, especially Mac users, and those results aren't symetrical improvements from dual core.

Dec 20, 2017 · It used to be, for Lightroom 5 and 6, that 4 core processors worked best, and anything more didn't work as well. There have been some discussion about how this has changed with Lightroom Classic CC, and some testing that indicates that Lightroom Classic CC performs well with 6 and 8 cores (you'll have to search for that yourself).

Feb 02, 2018 · With Lr 5.X; I think the dual core would have been better. Since Lr 6.X when they added the initial GPU support, each patch/version has incrementally improved the multi-core functionality. On my Windows machine with Lr 7.1, AMD Ryzen 1700 with 8 cores with a 1060 GPU; I can see many of the basic adjustments use multiple cores.
