Generally if an SSD drive is presented to the WinPe boot environment as a standard hard drive then the Ghost executable will be able to create and restore a ghost disk image. In some drives a warning will be resented that a SSD drive has been detected and that the use of the -notrim switch should be used.

Aug 02, 2008 · I tried booting with a Windows 98SE boot disc but it doesnt recognise my SATA DVD drive as it only detects IDE im pretty sure... Basically what im trying to do is Boot to MS-DOS prompt so i can run Norton GHOST and create a image of the drive e.t.c. I never done this on a SATA drive machine before hence why i never come across this problem...

Jun 13, 2016 · Norton Ghost can't see HDD or DVD (both SATA controllers) After many years using a Norton Ghost boot disk to copy one partition to another, this doesn't work with my new computer. For the first time the motherboard connectors are SATA, both for the HDD and the DVD Drive.

After booting, BartPE did not see the internal hard drive at all but saw the USB drive. Wondered what trick MS was playing to keep users meddling with the operating system!!! Finally I figured out that the MB is accessing the internal SATA drive in AHCI mode, which is new to me.

Jun 24, 2007 · If the drive in question is connected to a SATA channel that doesn't offer BIOS INT-13 support, GHOST 2003 can't access it. While I was a GHOST 2003 fan for several years, I've run across too many situations that it doesn't work well in, so I've totally moved to Acronis True Image.
