Jun 24, 2007 · I am still using Ghost 2003 as well as Ghost 9 and Acronis 10, depending on the dictates of the various situations. I ran into a problem this evening that makes me wonder if there is a compatibility issue between Ghost 2003 and SATA CD/DVD drives.

Generally if an SSD drive is presented to the WinPe boot environment as a standard hard drive then the Ghost executable will be able to create and restore a ghost disk image. In some drives a warning will be resented that a SSD drive has been detected and that the use of the -notrim switch should be used.

When the Optiplex 745 came out, I hit a snag. It would not boot my Ghost Image because the 745's switched over to SATA DVD drives. I searched for a universal driver but without any luck. Then, I discovered that I could switch to legacy support in the bios and all was well, it booted to the Ghost Image like a champ.
