dojo/node ¶. dojo/node now properly loads CommonJS modules that depend on modules that support both CommonJS and AMD but assume that if and AMD environment is detected, don’t return anything for the CommonJS module ().

User Agent Support ¶. The following user agents have been tested and are supported in this release. If a user agent version is not listed as supported, it still may work, especially on browsers with rapid release cycles (Chrome, Firefox).

AMD format for modules ¶. All modules in dojo and dijit have been converted to comply with the CommonJS Modules/AsynchronousDefinition (AMD) proposal. This is a preparatory step on the way to full AMD support in version 1.7 and beyond. Unless you are an early adopter of using dojo with an AMD loader, these changes should be transparent to you.

Obviously your point of view is your own business, but we never claimed that dojo._toDom() (technically an internal undocumented function) supports new HTML5 tags, SVG, VML, XML or any other tags used in web browsers outside of the common HTML4 realm. Especially supporting them in browsers that do not support them, like Internet Explorer.

(ExtJS's "learn more" page says IE6 and up; the "supported" list on the Dojo front page is not, shocking, a link to a list.) The Closure team originally said they supported IE6 (although they have no official list), but that may have changed with Google's recent decision to drop IE6 support from their web apps.

This sounds a wee bit weird as XMLHttpRequest has been supported by IE since 6 n up. Either your installation of IE is fubar or some glitch in the rendering engine makes dojo loader run before window itself is ready.. – mschr Jun 4 '12 at 10:44
