If you want dojo.attr(node,'name',value) and/or dojo.attr(node, 'type', value) to work on nodes *after* they've been inserted into the DOM, then file an enhancement request against the HTML component, and then attach a small test case (<30 lines) to that ticket using the attach file button.

querying the style attribute for a value probably isn't the right way to handle this. That said, I do agree that a string match on an item's style property should probably be handled against the cssText value, although this is *also* non-portable as Opera doesn't support it
