Jul 19, 2009 · Still having issues with a WRT310N dropping the WDS connection repeatedly on 12476 (see the actual 12476 thread for that). A old rev worked fine but my speed was stuck at 130. New rev gets full 270 between WDS nodes and to connected machines but drops the WDS repeatedly.

Oct 28, 2008 · note on 2nd wrt310n.. make sure SPI firewall is off; DHCP Server off; WAN disabled; WDS mac address match. Make sure also to have the TX at 28. If at 70 (dd-wrt default) , I noticed it worked for a little bit like 5-10 mins but had problems so I decided to keep TX power at 28.... wish I can do 70, but I think I need to find a cooling solution if I want that.

Yes WDS works on open source firmware, yet if they put it in a stock firmware, they would have competing devices, as in the Velop mesh system. I know it's an old link, but very informative, never knew they were looking at mesh that long ago.
