Nov 04, 2010 · Now Windows 7 finds the floppy drive in Device Manager and in Explorer, but it does not show up in Disk Management and if I try to go to the floppy disk it says "Please insert a floppy disk into drive A:" and won't recognize any floppy disk inserted.

Now ask your iMac why it doesn't sport a floppy, because I bet it has support for it, and so does Linux and BSD. Also the external floppy drives would rely on the the same support that enabled internal floppy drives in the first place.

Mar 22, 2013 · Floppy support in Windows Vista, 7, & 8 has been deprecated for quite some time. You'll find that a USB attached floppy drive will work much better than the hardware on the motherboard. Failing that then, yes, transfer the files to a thumb drive using XP.

If you can't get the drive to work in Windows 7, your best bet might be to boot from optical disk--maybe the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows, or say an Ubuntu or other Linux DVD. Copy the data off to flash drive or hard drive, and call it done.

Nov 22, 2011 · I've just finished trying the last suggestion now (installing xp vm and running the floppy as a virtual drive) - but it says the same messages that windows 7 does. Even if it did work it seems a little redundant to have to install our work software on a vm just to use a floppy drive.

Aug 18, 2017 · The floppy drive controller and the drive are then detected and drivers loaded (I have no idea from where) and then the drive works fine. The drivers may be the ones from Windows 7, so if you can find those, you probably can get your floppy drive working again. (Kind of like Viagra for an old computer with a floppy drive.)

Jan 09, 2017 · after updating from win 7 ultimate to win 10 pro my dvd player/burner shows as a floppy drive. DVD drive did not install but a floppy drive did (I don't have one) in Drivers and Hardware Build 10130 installed fine from DVD but after install install DVD drive did not work at all.
