As you can read in the answer to this question, each font has its own properties (for example: enabling a Regular Style or not), as provided by the font creator. By looking at your font (even just by looking at its name), it seems clear that it is a sub-type whose defining characteristics are precisely being (semi-)bold and italic; consequently, it does sound logical to not have the option to remove these features.

Feb 09, 2009 · font arial does not support style 'regular'". i have to click the "ok" button about four times till it goes away. i reinstalled all the various arial fonts i had in my windows/font directory, same result. i even downloaded them from the net, and alas, the same result.

Since I searched first and found nobody else had this before I thought I post my solution in case somebody else have the same problem and search for it.
