Nov 25, 2019 · Asrock and Asus support ECC on all AM4 boards I believe. MSI doesn't support ECC at all from what I know. Gigabyte only supports ECC on boads with higher layer counts which would include the X470 Gaming 7, and some older boards too like AX370 Gaming 5 and the K7. Some ITX boards might work too. Anyway, it's better to go with Asrock or Asus for ECC.

In simple terms, this means that AMD's Ryzen CPUs have full support for ECC memory, but AMD does not want to officially provide any QA or official support for ECC on their consumer platforms. Instead of simply disabling ECC support altogether, AMD has instead opted to allow motherboards to support the standard as they see fit, allowing consumers to take full advantage of ECC memory when using a compatible motherboard.

Mar 16, 2011 · Depending on the specs of the motherboard, a motherboard that supports ECC SDRAM may support a non-ECC SDRAM module. If a motherboard can support both types, you would have the option to enable or disable the ECC feature in BIOS. Other than the fact that an ECC module has an odd number of chips, there is no other physical difference on the module.

Nov 23, 2010 · Best Answer: ECC RAM works in most motherboards even if they don't say they support it. The ECC features don't actually work, but the RAM does. And you are correct, you cannot mix ECC and non-ECC RAM. Of course, it's not guaranteed. ECC memory is typically supported by server and high-end workstation motherboards,...

I have been using only MSI boards for the last 15 years, Very consistently MSI has had the best / right features first. I am hoping that when other motherboard makers decided to side step AMD's Decision to support ECC with the very deceptive (ECC sticks work, but not in ECC mode) , i hope MSI boards offer full support.

Aug 27, 2007 · Will not boot - you will see the black screen and nothing will happen when you turn on the computer. If that's the case, just put the old memory back in. But make sure that the pin layout (200 pins with the notch for either DDR or DDR2 memory), voltage, frequency and timings are the same.

Mar 02, 2017 · The chipset does not have any direct say in ECC support, the memory controller is inside the CPU. All AMD desktop CPUs since the Newcastle Athlon 64, including all Semprons, and all APUs since Trinity have supported ECC as far as I know.Reviews: 12
