The firmware doesn't support ipv6 though. If you want to use ipv6 with your wrt54g, you'll need to cascade it to your asus LAN to LAN. Search the forum for instructions on how to cascade a linksys router LAN to LAN. I use different SSIDs for main router and secondary router and ipv6 works fine using the wrt54g.

I've tried getting support from Linksys online chat but once they discovered that my router was a few years old they terminated the chat and wouldn't answer my yes or no question. Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this and advise whether a firmware update would do the trick, or if I need to buy a new router.

Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is a protocol introduced to replace Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) in order to solve the IP Address exhaustion problem. Although IPv4 is still being used, some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) already require setting up IPv6 on the router to activate your Internet connection. IMPORTANT: Not all Linksys routers are IPv6-compliant.

Jun 01, 2006 · Setup your local clients to include IPv6 support. In windows XP/2003 this means going to your network neighbourhood icon, selecting properties, choosing your link and adding Protocol -> Microsoft IPv6 and hitting ok. Once done, you should simply check to see if you have ipv6 running by starting the command prompt and running ipv6 if.

IPv6 is enabled, the router shows that it has an address from the ISP, and no matter what I tried I couldn't get any connected device to use IPv6. I then tried installing OpenWRT and had some success getting both IPv4 and IPv6, but had other issues so I reverted back to the latest Linksys firmware.

Hello, I'm looking for an updated list of all Linksys routers that have IPv6 settings. I've looked on the Linksys support page and found an article but it doesn't seem to have many of the new routers out there these days. I went to a Best Buy store and the associate said the EA7300 had IPv6 comp...

At present, when people ask me if they should buy Linksys products to support IPv6, I recommend against it. What Linksys should support is: - Native IPv6 (will be useful once Comcast, Rogers, and other turn on IPv6 this summer) - IPv6 Tunnels - when provider does not support native IPv6 - 6to4, Teredo, ISATAP, TSP - tunnels over all IPv4 networks!
