May 23, 2014 · The virtualization included within EL6 is an older version than brand-new Fedora or Ubuntu will have. The feature to use vmdk was added some time in the last few years, and probably is not possible to backport to EL6's old qemu-kvm version.

Starting at v0.12, Qemu-kvm has native support to VMware's disk images v6 (seems to be compatible with v7, used by VMware Server). So VMware images can could be run with Qemu-kvm without any modification (make backups and do it at your own risks though !). Look at your VMX configuration file: scsi0:0.fileName = "zimbra-000001.vmdk"

Nov 19, 2014 · That's correct, you cannot use VMware vCenter Converter Standalone if you cannot run the KVM qcow2 image under Linux. Without a linux system or Vmware server what can I do? Your other option, like I already said, is to convert qcow2 to vmdk. You can then create a VM using the vmdk file. I'd suggest you Google: qcow2 to vmdk
