Dec 29, 2008 · The statement about all Intel quads supporting VT was a marketing statement, not a technical statement, and it was incorrect. The processor finder is authoritative. If you use a search engine, you will find abundant references to the Q8200 not supporting VT.

Dec 01, 2008 · Your VMware product says that your host does not support VT. Some Intel processors are not VT-capable. (For example, the Q8200 Intel Core 2 Quad Processor is not VT-capable). You can check to see if your processor(s) are VT-capable here.

Jul 25, 2009 · No, it doesn't. The Intel Q8200 Quad Core Processor does not support Virtualization Technology: As long as you use a Q8200 you will be unable to take advantage of VT (no matter what board or BIOS you use). The only way to solve this is to install a processor that supports VT.

Q8300 (SLB5W) when launched never supported Intel(R) Virtualization Technology.(VT) The SLGUR which was recently released does support VT. You will need a processor that supports VT in additional to the chipset and BIOS.

May 27, 2009 · ALL 45nm Core2-family (including "Pentium Dual Core") chips should support SSE4.1, VT, and TXT. Only then will those features reach widespread adoption. Right now, Intel is undercutting support by not making those features ubiquitous, so software developers are remiss about implementing them.

Recently I ordered Intel Core2Duo E8400 CPU and Intel DG33BU motherboard. Both these are supposed to support VT-x, and I already used virtualization on identical combination elsewhere. But when I have put the machine together, I found out that it beheaves as if there was no virtualization present.
