Jul 13, 2011 · As a follow-up on this thread about NFS support for Hyper-V: we are currently in the process of buying a NetApp filer as a NAS and for serving up the LUNS for the VMs on Hyper-V (over iSCSI). The NetApp partner that is selling us this is telling me that NFS (as a protocol) is much more efficient and resilient...

Mar 27, 2015 · While it has always been possible to run Linux as the guest operating system on a Hyper-V VM, those VMs often faced limitations and lacked support for some features. Windows Server 2012 R2 added several new enhancements for Linux VMs that remove some of the limitations, including support for Hyper-V Dynamic Memory and live backup. However, feature support across different …

Jan 31, 2014 · Windows makes a horrible NFS server and good NFS servers like Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris are all available for free. NFS on Windows was abandoned years ago and only semi limps along. Use it only in emergencies, never for production workloads. Windows is not nearly as cost effective here as much better choices.

Create NFS file share on Hyper-V Server 2016 MangoLassi

    https://mangolassi.it/topic/16174/create-nfs-file-share-on-hyper-v-server-2016
@scottalanmiller said in Create NFS file share on Hyper-V Server 2016:. Any reason not to host it from a lean VM on top of Hyper-V? This would require the NFS share to live inside of a .VHDX. The NFS share would be a backup repository for some things, and having to restore a .VHDX first to restore an NFS share is more time consuming and complex, and I was hoping to avoid that if possible.
