Feb 03, 2007 · I am new to DOS, and I just recently installed the OS on a old 1.2GB HDD I had lying around. But I would like to know how to install a CD drive onto my 6.22 version of DOS. I have some old DOS games (like the original Tomb Raider, The Elder Scrolls, ect.) that I would like to play on it, but they are all on CD.

May 18, 2013 · How I can create a CD with MS-DOS 6.22 that can be installed from CD to HDD, running MS-DOS 6.22 clean on HDD. Without the need of any Windows. Please be without Floppy Disk because I have not. I do not trust floppy disks because they suffer from bad sectors. The purpose is to play MS-DOS games in MS-DOS without any kind of emulation.

Agreed, 7.1 CD would be much better for this purpose. It includes "native" CD and Mouse drivers, unlike 6.22. Although it is your choice, MS-DOS would probably not be a very good use of that computer. My suggestion would be to install Windows 2000 or even (shudder) Millenium Edition to truly experience the computers of old.

Or if you have a DOS boot floppy that has CD-ROM drivers built in, boot that and then mount an ISO containing all the unpacked MS-DOS floppy files. But basically, a floppy disk boot is going to be used one way or another. Install a CD-ROM driver into MS-DOS so that you can mount a CD as D:\ for example.
