I have read all over that Apache allows Byte-Range support from default. However I am unable to stream any of our audio files nor am I able to add them to a podcast on itunes because it says that Byte-Range support is not enabled on my server. I have tried looking around to find a solution to this problem but can't seem to find it.

Mar 18, 2019 · In case of a range request that is out of bounds (none of the range values overlap the extent of the resource, i.e first-byte-pos of all ranges is greater than the resource length), the server responds with a 416 Requested Range Not Satisfiable status. In case of no support of range requests, the 200 OK status is sent back from a server.

@MarcNovakowski Actually, consider the case of wget and using the -c flag. Since wget doesn't maintain any metadata about the file being complete, suppose the size of the file on disk is 99 bytes. wget will request the byte range "100-", and I feel that the server should respond with a 0 length response since the request is just 1 past the end of the file. – dhruvbird Jan 17 '14 at 3:06

Oct 16, 2012 · Standard Apache on Ubuntu should support byte-range requests by default. Are you serving the files directly, or are you using a PHP script to serve out the files via readfile() or similar? If you are doing the latter (perhaps for statistics gathering), you will need to modify your script to properly reply to byte-range requests.
