AM2+ boards support AM2/AM2+/AM3 and Only do DDR2 and no DDR3 ever Posted on Dec 1st 2008, 13:46 Reply #13 KBD if get myself a Phenom 2 i'll be getting a Gigabyte or an MSI board, to my knowledge these 2 are the only ones that offer AM3 support for SB600 and a variety of their other boards.

Feb 18, 2009 · IT WILL physically fit. If the manufacturer of the board or Gateway released a BIOS update for AM3 CPU support you won't have any problems. The only difference between AM2+ and AM3 is DDR3 support. I have a AM2+ Gigabyte 780G chipset MB and I'm running a Phenom X3 720 BE which is AM3.
