IE7 doesn't actually support strict XHTML. Specifically, if you serve it XHTML with a content-type of application/xhtml+xml , it will go "oh, that new-fangled XHTML stuff, I don't know anything about it," and will treat it as an XML document.

So is there a way by adding some js script e.t.c. so that HTML5 and its js api work normally in IE also as it works on other browsers like chrome, firefox and opera e.t.c.? It does not use <video> of html5, but html5 will accept the same media code used for the xhtml 1.1 page with a few adjustments for differences in html5 and xhtml 1.1 code. Thus, if I ever see the need for <video> support, I can write an html5 page in a combination of media code types, if desired.

Mar 02, 2006 · But I wouldn’t say that IE7 is a backwards step by any means. You listed a number of technologies such as XHTML2, HTML5, CSS3. Well, XHTML 2.0 and CSS 3.0 are still working drafts, so I wouldn’t expect IE7 to support them until they’re recommendations.
