Feb 07, 2007 · I am trying to install XP on my 2000 but it says: Windows XP Setup does not support upgrading from Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional to Microsoft Windows XP Professional. Setup cannot continue. Do i have to reformat my HD? Do i have to reinstall everything on my HD some stuff i dont have the cd any more. Like Office 2003 Thanks

However, this time around you will not be able to use the Upgrade from Windows 95. Windows XP requires Windows 98 or newer to qualify. NOTE: By design, Win95 should not work as a qualifying product. However, there is a bug in the Setup program on Windows XP CDs (both Home Edition and Professional). Apparently, Microsoft will not be fixing this bug.

Oct 11, 2017 · In truth, Windows 8 does not support a direct upgrade from Windows XP. This means you will have do a custom install, which means, any applications or drivers you currently have installed will have to be reinstalled. You might likely need updated drivers for some hardware.
