Dec 24, 2013 · VT-d works for SB-E CPUs. See EDIT below. In that post 2 different people report that upgrading their BIOS to the newer 2003 and 2104 had broken VT-d support. I bought the Sabertooth X79 specifically for its VT-d support. Breaking VT-d would render my PC useless, as my Windows and other OSes run on a Xen hypervisor with PCI / VGA passthrough.

Jan 06, 2013 · I need to purchase a X79 motherboard ASAP! It must be compatible with the 3930K and have VT-d support via the BIOS. I generally prefer Asus if possible, do most of them support VT-d? I will not be overclocking at ALL. Will be using 4x DIMM, need at least 2x SATA 6 ports and it MUST have an Intel NIC. Thus I think a basic board should do.

Aug 21, 2013 · EDIT: I've gained some confidence in Asus through reports that Asus is actually doing something about VT-d support, and through my own experience with Asus BIOS updates. The Sabertooth X79 BIOS releases support VT-d for SB-E CPUs. Unfortunately Asus support and documentation is a tragedy.Author: Elmor

Sep 11, 2018 · The x79 does overclock with multiplier unlocked cpus. At this time stamp in a bios walk through it shows Intel virtualization technology. The cpuz screenshot is showing vt-x is supported. Some more digging and it seems that VT-d isn’t supported. It is mentioned in this bios modding thread.
