For all of those OSes, see the CaptureSetup/WLAN page of the Wireshark Wiki for information on how to enable monitor mode. For Windows, we don't support monitor mode on any adapters, and promiscuous mode generally doesn't work very well, so you can only capture in non-promiscuous mode, meaning you'll only see traffic to and from your machine.

If you experience any problems capturing packets on WLANs, try to switch promiscuous mode off. In this case you will have to capture traffic on the host you're interested in. If anybody finds an adapter and driver that do support promiscuous mode, they should mention it at the bottom of this page, for the benefit of other users.

All modern wireless cards chipsets would may have that feature to be able to sniff/monitor, but as Matthew Read pointed out in the comments below, its a grey area in terms of driver support. When you issue the binary command ifconfig there's a 'promisc' switch to tell it to go into promiscuous mode to enable monitoring/sniffing.
