Jan 06, 2013 · We were able to get that copy of "Going Under" by Evanescence onto a Windows Phone 8 and were able to get it to play without having to convert the file to a different format. The issue we ran into was the Windows Phone app for desktop did not recognize the file. We moved it to the phone using Windows Explorer.

This works ok on windows phone 8.1 when input and output sample rate are both 44100. But if I set the input and output sample rate to 22050, the last line "SetInputMediaType" will fail with code 0xc00d36b4. Does that mean media foundation do not support 22050hz aac encode on windows phone 8.1? Or I missed anything?

According to this link the Windows Phone 7 supports the AAC encoded audio stream in the browser and via the MediaElement API as well. We have tested few the icecast streams (e.g. this) it on our devices (e.g. HTC HD7 T9292, with latest updated - ver 7.0 (7392) ), but it does not work either in web browser or via API. The mp3 live stream works fine.
