Apr 02, 2007 · Re: Joists under granite countertops I've seen the granite go in and then after a few parties with addition people crowded in the kitchen the hardwood floor really started to show cracks do to the movement. Obviously it depends on the span but I'd definitely look into beefing up the floor - sistering, adding solid blocking etc.
