Apr 25, 2016 · Gryz, thanks that's what I'm looking for but I'm wondering if anyone has any reliable tests that show cat5e doing 10gbps at 45 meters. I too, have cat5e in my house that I can't replace. I'm thinking about ordering Comcast's 2 Gigabit Fiber service which is obviously more than what cat5e is rated for.

Feb 24, 2012 · Yes Cat 5e supports Gigabit practically, and was designed for it, anything faster can cause problems. Cat 6 was designed for 10 Gibabit so you have roonm to upgrade. Remember there is a good chance that your cable will be there for a very long time

Nov 17, 2013 · Yes the cat5 / cat5e can work in 1gbps for 100 meters but it also depends on your router or switch if it is capable of 1gbps as well. it will indicate 10/100/1000base-t in the ethernet port if you will see the box from your switch or router. Hope this helps.
