May 02, 2011 · Best Answer: Wheat. It's nice to need cotton to fuel your industry; the Confederacy could supply that. So could the Crown Jewel of the Empire-India. It's even better to need food for your people. The North supplied a lot of wheat to Britain that it absolutely needed.
