Sep 06, 2017 · Numerous Mac users would have used iPhoto and now been almost forced to use Photos and not just lost features, but confusion because of this. As i know, photos support mp4 and mov videos, If you want to import avchd to photos app, conversion is necessary, and this page talks about import avchd to photos, hope it helps.

Jun 21, 2012 · Anyone interested in importing AVCHD into iPhoto 9.3 needs to be aware that iPhoto 9.3 supports only AVCHD Lite (720p) and AVCHD (1080i). It does not support AVCHD Progressive (1080p); it does not even show it in the list of camera files to import from.

Jan 10, 2018 · Looks like iphoto assembled the AVCHD segments into a .mov container and saved it to that file path with the original frame rate and resolution. Too bad your camera doesn't support 50fps in mp4, as that would be a lot easier for you. I think the are several converters in the app store that simply assemble the segments into a .mov file.

AVCHD files are not supported on Mac OSX 10.7 Lion and below at all. OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion and above handle them in an unexpected and klunky way (more on this later). If you extract the MTS files from the AVCHD file, OSX doesn’t handle them at all, which means no Quicktime, iPhoto, or Aperture support either.

There is also a way to use VLC to transcode any video it can play to another format. I use ClipWrap to rewrap the .mts file. then it can play without any problem. As of iPhoto 9.3, iPhoto now supports AVCHD. So the officially sanctioned way to add such support for iPhoto now seems to be to install version 9.3.

Jan 06, 2010 · Can't get iPhoto to see AVCHD movies Just bought a Panasonic Lumix camera which also records 720p video in ACVHD format. iPhoto picks up the pictures just fine, but won't even see the videos. I've tried opening the videos directly off the SD card using VLC Player, but no luck there, either.
