Does anyone know which SATA configuration I should use on my ASUS P5QC motherboard to obtain the data transfer rate my WD Velociraptor is praised for? My choices are: IDE, RAID, and ACHI. Sep 28, 2015 · HDD - Western Digital Blue 1 TB - for data storage. So everything was fine when I set my SATA controller as IDE in bios. After I read the benefit of having AHCI, makes me want to change it from IDE to AHCI. So here's what I did 1. took out the HDD cable 2. entered bios change IDE to AHCI 3.
