Nov 07, 2011 · offer a second link starting with "webcal://" with a note/icon mentioning which browsers support it. From my tests, it seems like Firefox and IE support webcal urls. I think this new module should be used as a guide for fixing up the iCal for CiviCRM core for events. That area is NOT user friendly, and is also hard to get to.

May 05, 2015 · CalDAV is a protocol, extending WebDAV, thus HTTP. Webcal is a URI scheme that AFAIK was invented by Apple and has exactly the same semantics as "http", except that Safari (and maybe some other browsers) know that the URI refers to a calendar, and thus invoke the "right" application without having to fetch the resource.

In fact, WEBCAL protocol is just HTTP/HTTPS. When browser detect that it's "WEBCAL", it will try to open a calendar application on local machine and ask to subscribe. We don't need to do anything to support "WEBCAL". Now let's open Safari and go to the URL we had just implemented, just replace "HTTP" to "WEBCAL".
