Download the latest firmware update compressed file for your WD TV Media Player. Extract the four files (.BI2, .BIN, .VER, and .FFF files) to the root (top level) of a portable USB drive. Connect the USB drive to the WD TV Media Player's USB port. WD TV will automatically detect if there is a new firmware upgrade on the USB drive.

Oct 15, 2015 · so file support. best would be ext3 (linux native formatting) after that fat/fat32. then others. NTFS is a windows format (other WD models use a paragon driver) HFS+ is a MAC format (I’m not mac guy, but I think this is loosly based on ext3) but not sure how good the support is for it

Oct 15, 2015 · I can’t get my ‘WD TV’ to recognise my 4TB ‘My Book’ external drive. When I plug the drive into the WDTV I get one of two results, either the ‘My Book’ unit flashes about four times and then the WDTV unit switches off or, on the odd occasion that the WDTV home screen appears it states there is no external drive connected.

Sep 04, 2017 · I don't think the current kernel on the WDTV supports exfat. As a matter of fact, I don't know if exfat is supported by linux at all (last I read there were some licensing issues from microsoft which prevented open-source development of an exfat driver - but I might be wrong).
