Jan 02, 2010 · The vpu recover was a function of older drivers. I have not seen that option in the newer drivers. [Does not mean it is not there just that I have not seen it] As for updating drivers, I would go to the ati/amd site and download the latest driver 9.12 I think. Now uninstall all ati driver software from add/remove and reboot.

Feb 27, 2009 · well i gave up and traded in my ATI x600 128 mb for an Nvidia Geforce 6600 256mb PCI-E. I blamed my system crashes/lockups on my video card and said i didn't want an ATI so they gave me the Equivelant Nvidia, which is twice as good of a card.

Sep 01, 2004 · Disable VPU Recover. It's supposed to keep the system from crashing should it see something drastic caused by the video card. In reality all it does is... cause crashes.While you're at it, go into your XP Services and disable "ATI Hotkey Poller" and "ATI Smart".
