Oct 17, 2013 · Earlier today I upgraded Workstation 9.0.0 to v10, one of the reasons is that Windows 8.1 is supposedly supported as guest. The Windows 8.1 ISO's I got from MSDN (nl_windows_8_1_x64_dvd_2707297.iso and nl_windows_8_1_x86_dvd_2707447.iso) are NOT recognized plus 8.1 is not even mentioned in the list with operating systems.

Oct 15, 2013 · Since Windows 8 and 8.1 are so similar, you can choose Windows 8 as the guest type and it will work fine for a Windows 8.1 VM. The final build of 8.1 is not recognized by Easy Install in Workstation 10. 8.1 was released after Workstation, so all we could test with was the preview version of 8.1.
