Sep 24, 2010 · VMware products cannot open MS's vhd files directly. The VMware Converter can import/convert a MS.vpc virtual machine into a VMware format one. Use VirtualPC to create a.vpc guest using the.vhd file you downloaded. Then use the Converter to convert it to a.vmx/.vmdk file set.

Apr 13, 2016 · First, open Windows Disk Management and attach VHD as a disk. Select the VHD or VHDX file and a new disk shows up in Disk Management. Next, create a VM in VMware Workstation. Add the first hard disk by creating a new virtual disk. The size of the disk should be the same as the one in VHD. Then add the next hard disk by using a physical disk.

Mar 07, 2018 · The scenario is that we have a W2008R2 server on a Hyper-V VHD and want to 'import' it into VMware. Being that the VHD is, in fact, the hard disk it looks like there is no way to actually import into VMware. We tried converting the VHD to VMDK, create the server and attached the drive but encountered the BSOD on boot.
