A customer of ours would like to deploy our software in a virtual environment. I know that passthrough USB is supported in VMware Workstation 6.5 but I'm not clear about its support in ESX/ESXi.

Jun 11, 2019 · But am I the only one who is constantly having issues with USB support and Horizon View? We are currently running version 7.0.3 and really want to upgrade to 7.4 or higher. The biggest problem we have is that the moment we test out 7.4 or higher we lose most USB support. USB printers are not detected, thumb drives are not shown.

Jan 10, 2008 · In a word No. ESX has no USB support. however RDP doe have device redirection and can read and attatch to things like USB storage devices and Printers, for things like scanning (Twain redirection) it is best to either use a dedicated scanning workstation.
