But it seems that the "lm" CPU flag is not available within the virtual machine, also the machine is marked with 64-bit. I think RedHat Enterprise EM64T should work inside a virtual machine.

If you are running VMware server and have a 64bit system that you are trying to run a 64bit client operating system and you get the following error “CPU does not support long mode” that could mean your bios is not configured correctly. Oct 23, 2009 · CPU doesn't support long mode. I have vmware ESXi 4.0 installed on a HP dektop. I find this kind of starange becos, ESXi4 installs only on 64 bit processors. So my processor supports 64 bit, but whu not the guest OS.
