Nov 10, 2019 · Hi. I am using Workstation Player 15, non-commercial licence (free). I know that I can install VMware Tools inside supported guest OS and frankly I did (that one is Windows 98). It stretches the screen so it fills my entire display. However, it doesn't work with fixed display mode (like CGA, EGA and VGA in MS-DOS screen).

Aug 01, 2013 · VMware Player requires VT-x on Intel CPUs so that the virtual machine monitor can protect itself from the guest operating system. This has never been optional. Without VT-x, running a 64-bit guest could crash the host. While an emulator could run a 64-bit guest slowly without VT-x, VMware Player is a virtualization product, not an emulator.

It is supposed to have AVX instruction support, and CPU-Z confirmed it. But when I check the fedora guest installed in vmware player, it does not show AVX flag in /proc/cpuinfo: Host is windows 7 SP1 64-bit, does support AVX. Guest is fedora 14 with kernel 2.6.35, does support AVX. vmware player is 3.1.4 build-385536
