Dec 07, 2011 · Nobody knows, really; anyway, if you are using Ubuntu 11.10, Unity 2D is the default without OpenGL support (as in Fusion 4.1): almost the same as the "true" Unity desktop. Well, at least let's hope that they are working on it (OpenGL/3D support for Linux, and eventually perhaps also for Mac OS X (Server) VMs)...

Mar 06, 2017 · But there's one thing which I cannot solve: I can not enable 3D support on any VM! I tried it with a Windows 10 and a Windows 7 VM, both 64 bit Versions. I found several threads with a similar title, but all were about a bad combination of VM hardware version and VMWare Tools version.

May 19, 2019 · Hi there If when using a Linux host with VMWare you find you get messages on Windows VM's saying 3D and Hardware acceleration not supported even when you've ticked the enable 3d box in the edit VM configuration from the VMWare menu simply add these 2 lines to the .vmx VM config file with any decent text editor and re-start the VM.

Enable 3D Support checkbox will be shown on Video card settings page in Virtual Machine Properties dialog. If the host does not support 3D the checkbox will be disabled. 3D checkbox will be enabled only if the following requirements must be met: The host supports 3D acceleration; The host OS supports 3D acceleration i.e. meaning ESX 5.0 and higher.

Dec 12, 2015 · Warning exists underneath 3D Acceleration option. Windows 10 64-bit host, Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit guest. sudo apt-get update and tried installing latest version. No cigar. Also tried typical VMWare Tools install + open-vm-tools desktop, which gets me autofit at least.
