Mar 21, 2018 · I set up VMWare Workstation (free) at home this weekend, and have a Windows 7 Pro VM installed. That's all running quite well. The one limitation that I've run into is that I can't pass my GPU on my host through to the guest VM, so any graphical stuff on the VM is handled by my CPU.

The hardware your virtual machine sees is virtual, not actual hardware.
