Known Limitations of Sound Support in VMware Workstation Sound support is provided for Sound Blaster compatible PCM (pulse code modulation) output. This gives you the ability to play .wav, .au and Real Audio formats, among others. MIDI sound is not supported. Game ports and devices such as joysticks attached to game ports are not supported.
