Feb 16, 2010 · We are migrating from a bunch of 6 cpu Tru64 Alpha Servers "Dual"-System Machines with hardware failover to something like 2x 4core Xeon 5560 blades with VMware and HA+FT. We need to know if there is anything in "the development pipeline" at VMware to have SMP support with FT in the near future. Anybody else with infos for me ?

What hasn’t changed in SMP-FT is the type of protection that it offers. Just like FT, SMP-FT still offers the ability to make VM’s higher available in case of host failures. When a host fails the secondary VM will be made available to the network immediately. Compared to HA, the service the VM with FT offers, will know almost no downtime.

Apr 23, 2012 · Site survey says on my vClient, SMP not supported by FT. all other items has been ticked ok. in order to work with vMotion does FT required or how does it really work with HA only for instance if I am ok with HA. I don't really need FT since it does not support multiproccessor. What should I do? Do I ignore this message on Site Survey? Regards,
