But not sure what brand/model of UPS to buy. In the past, I have used APC, Tripp Lite and Belkins UPS products in the past. I like to find something under $500 that has LCD panel and capable of sending commands to ESXi 5.5 (paid version) to shut down VMs in case of power failure. Thank you in advance.

Jun 03, 2019 · I would like to know what is required to gracefully shut down a VMware ESXi environment while using APC Smart-UPS for the backup power. I would assume that I would need a UPS with a network management card (and not a lesser UPS with SmartConnect). I am shipping a bunch of ESXi 5.1 servers to remote offices where they will be powered via APC UPS. I would like to have the UPS trigger a shutdown of the connected server - I would then rely on the ESXi configuration to take care of the shutdown/suspension of the VMs hosted on it.
