Oct 07, 2011 · I've bought several rack type servers on eBay that run ESXi 5.0 (and ESX 4.0) well enough -- I've put 16GB of system memory in each for less than $500 per server (all-inclusive hardware cost, dual quad core CPUs and the 16GB of system memory).
